Alay Kapwa Educational Foundation
Alay Kapwa Daycare Program supports 340 preschool children who have been accepted to Grade 1, with education and nutrition programs at two centers in Cavite and two centers in Cebu. In 2021, PIA provided $6,000 in COVID assistance (food and hygiene packages).
Founded in 1979 by five Good Shepherd sisters, Alay Kapwa Christian Community started as a response to the needs of the urban poor in Leveriza, Malate. These needs fell into four areas: education, value formation, income generation and aid (medical, calamity). From its first deep well project in Leveriza twenty-five years ago, it has grown to support over of 1,105 children in educational grants and assistance, 340 children in daycare, 99 in livelihood projects and over 3,000 in other aid programs. |
