THANK YOU to responding to our
Call to Compassion

Dear Community,

Thank you for your donation to our Call for Compassion campaign to help Filipino American families devastated by the Los Angeles wildfires recently. We are grateful for all the support that numerous individuals and corporations shared. But we were also devastated to see the enormity of the fire damage and the physical, mental and emotional toll on the survivors. Your contribution has helped eased their pain.

We raised a total of $15,600 and we disbursed funds to the following families/organization:

$1,000 to Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA), a long-time organization in Southern California serving the Filipino American community who distributed emergency and basic necessities.

$1,500 to the Arceo Family (1 child) - who lost their home (family’s gathering place) and everything they owned. The family was able to evacuate on time with only the clothes on their backs. Their workplace was also evacuated, leaving them unable to work.

$1,000 to Michael and Sheila de Leon (2 children) – their condominium was totally destroyed. A nephew and niece also lived there and where their parents would also stay upon arrival from the Philippines. Michael, Sheila's brother, stepped in as a father figure when his uncle died. Since the age of 1, his nephew has undergone annual surgeries at CHLA, but he was still able to pursue his passion for animation. The fire caused him to lose all his tools and materials essential for completing his work.

$1,000 to Jacqueline Tea and family (2 children)— Jackie is a devoted mother who has always done everything to provide a safe and loving environment and home for her kids. Jacob (8) and Jolie (5) have shown incredible strength through this ordeal and monumental challenge.

$1,000 to Bo and Suzanne Zaballero (1 child) - the family, including son Finn, 7, safely evacuated but their home and car were totally burned.  Their main concern now is to help their son, who is autistic adapt to the sudden changes as he requires specific care.

$1,000 to Ed Praditpol and Family (4 children) - lost their home in Altadena. Thankfully, they are safe and staying with family. However, assistance is needed for recovery and support throughout this ordeal as they try to rebuild their lives.

$1,000 to Dominic Cervates and Family (2 children)
This contribution brings comfort and meaningful support to Dominic Cervantes and his family as they navigate the difficult journey of rebuilding and healing after the loss of their home in the Eaton Fire.

$1,000 to Dennis Sison and Family (2 children) - With two sons to provide for and Shannon, who had stayed home to take care of her brother after a stroke and now needing to find work, they need time to determine what's next. These funds will assist with needs that other sources of aid might not fully cover.

$1,000 to Schweitzer Family (4 children) — The family of 6 have been displaced and lost everything they had. Jennifer Schweitzer said she had to pull her husband away from the flames that destroyed his childhood home. While going through the debris of their home, they found her husband’s wedding ring and their first-born's baby photos.

$1,000 to Ganibi Family (3 children) – The Ganibi family, longtime Altadena residents for nearly four decades, have been displaced—along with their four dogs—by the devastating Eaton Fire, which destroyed the beloved and historic community they’ve called home. Now facing the long road to recovery and likely to remain displaced through most of 2025, they are working to rebuild their lives in the wake of profound loss, holding onto hope amid the uncertainty.

$1,000 Ryan Ruiz and Family (1 child) – They started to build their lives in Altadena, recently welcoming their baby boy, who just celebrated his first birthday. They have lost treasured memories and a life they worked so hard for to provide for their little one.

$1,000 to Chris Stevenson and Family (1 child) - their home, school, and arts and game community center all burned down.

$1,000 to Ulanday Family (3 children) - Mike and Sharon, their three young sons—Marston, Max, and Miles—and their three beloved dogs, Chewy, Padme, and Rocky. This family lost their beautiful home and nearly all their belongings in the recent devastating LA fires that swept through Altadena. With barely any time to evacuate, they had to leave behind a lifetime of memories, escaping with just each other and their dogs.

$1,000 to Bax-Vitangcol Family (1 child) – Keno, Darcy and Eliott with their two dogs left their home and needed everyday essentials such as food, diapers, baby wipes, milk, clothes, toiletries, and emergency needs.
