PIA Donor Story: Dr. Agnes Alikpala Helps Bring Dreams to LifE

PIA’s sponsorship programs have been a game-changer for disadvantaged Filipino youth, both in the Philippines. By connecting generous sponsors with deserving students, the organization has opened doors to educational opportunities that were once out of reach. Through this initiative, the youth are empowered to overcome challenges and pursue their dreams, creating a lasting impact on their lives and futures. Dr. Agnes Alikpala’s journey with Philippine International Aid is a testament to the power of dedication and passion in making a lasting impact. For over 25 years, Dr. Alikpala has played an essential role in PIA’s mission to uplift under privileged children in the Philippines, inspired by a deep commitment to the organization's goals.

Her involvement with PIA began when she was invited by the parents of one pediatric patient to attend a fundraiser documentary. Meeting PIA’s founder and board members, she was immediately struck by their sincerity and passion for improving the lives of underprivileged Filipino children. “I was impressed by their sincerity, dedication, and passion,” she reflected. Inspired by their mission, Dr. Alikpala joined the PIA Board, serving for 25 years with unwavering commitment to the organization's goals.

Dr. Alikpala’s most fulfilling experience with PIA was meeting her scholars at the Lopez Building in Pasig City. “It was great to match the faces and their stories,” she said, recalling one girl who had been her scholar for 12 years. This moment allowed Dr. Alikpala to see the profound impact of PIA’s programs on their lives.

Dr. Alikpala’s experience with PIA highlights the organization’s impact and the vital role of dedicated individuals. Her long-term service and deep connections with scholars demonstrate the meaningful relationships that can flourish when given the right support. Through her efforts, Dr. Alikpala continues to inspire, keeping PIA’s vision vibrant and active.
