It is a rare find indeed to have something so profound come into our lives that pays such homage to our Filipino heritage. We are truly fortunate to have the opportunity to catch the award-winning off-Broadway production Romance of Magno Rubio as it finally comes home to Northern California following a whirlwind tour around the world.

This tale of heartache and dreams is set in the 1930s and takes place in a San Joaquin Delta bunkhouse. It is the tale of Magno, a Filipino immigrant worker who dreams of true love and the trials and tribulations he must endure to achieve it. This off-Broadway smash hit has won eight Obie awards and brings together movement and music in the way of storytelling.

The Romance of Magno Rubio premieres in the Bay Area October 4-5 (Stockton) and continues on October 9-12 (San Bruno). Ticket prices are $25 and are on sale now at www.brownpapertickets.com. All proceeds benefit the Philippine International Aid (P.I.A.)  and the Little Manila Foundation.
